Leap Academy

Course Overview

 

Each course offers study and tuition in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Singing, Drama, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Street, Contemporary, Music Theory and Anatomy.  Examinations in ISTD Ballet, Modern Tap  and RAD ballet are also optional. In the 3rd year students have the opportunity to take the FDI teaching qualification.

 

1st Year

The 1st year is an introduction to all subjects with training focused on core technique, strength, and ability to apply different styles to all aspects of dance and vocal work. The 1st year is a foundation for years 2 & 3.  Continuous assessments are made throughout the year to monitor progress, and will be discussed with the students in their one to one appraisals.

2nd Year

The 2nd year builds on the technique and foundations acquired in year 1.  Attention is given to improving on their all round performance skills.  This year is highly concentrated on identifying their strengths and weaknesses, enabling each individual to become goal focused. Students progress will continue to be monitored through individual appraisals.

3rd Year

The 3rd year encompasses all their prior learning producing all round confident and sound performers ready to embark on their new careers.  It’s vital that each student has a substantial repertoire of both monologue and song suitable for auditions and a portfolio is created. The 3rd year culminates in a showcase that prospective agents are invited to watch.

Performance

Leap Academy has an annual show for all the students, plus several opportunities to perform in the studio theatre throughout each year.  All teachers are highly trained with a great deal of expertise in their specialist fields. The faculty provide a high standing of teaching ability, with the individual attention and care each and every student deserves.
